About the position

The ACR Instructor at Trenholm State Community College is responsible for teaching courses in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, implementing the instructional program according to established guidelines, and supporting the college's mission. The instructor will engage in student recruitment, curriculum development, and maintain instructional equipment, while also advising students and coordinating with the Division Director.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course syllabi.
  • Facilitate student learning and assist in implementing the total instructional program.
  • Promote safety throughout the instructional program.
  • Maintain instructional records including attendance, grades, and competency records.
  • Provide timely and accurate 'Student No-Show' reports.
  • Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Complete required surveys and student data requests.
  • Communicate with program advisory committee members and employers for curriculum guidance.
  • Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in career planning and job seeking.
  • Follow up on graduates and former students.
  • Coordinate with the career placement office for student employment opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and upgrading course syllabi and curriculum materials.
  • Manage live work activities and records included in the curriculum.
  • Serve on college committees as needed.
  • Promote the instructional program and the institution within the community.
  • Recruit students for classes.
  • Assist in recruiting and supporting instructors in the area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to the welfare and advancement of the community.
  • Stay updated with teaching methodology and technology through professional development activities.
  • Incorporate technology into the teaching/learning experience.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations communicated through memos and meetings.
  • Participate in annual faculty evaluations.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and assessment devices.
  • Attend faculty meetings and college programs.
  • Participate in institutional planning and assist in the instructional mission of the College.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation and certification standards.
  • Submit documentation to support accreditation efforts.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Division Director or Associate Dean.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution with three or more years of recent full-time work experience in the occupational or technical field.
  • Must possess an EPA certification and licensure from the Alabama Board of Heating and Air.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with 27 semester hours in the teaching field and six years of documented full-time work experience in the teaching field.
  • Successful completion of an approved occupational examination within the first year of employment.
