About the position

The Accounts Receivable Specialist at Illume Fertility plays a crucial role in managing self-pay accounts and resolving outstanding patient balances. This position emphasizes teamwork and effective communication, ensuring that patient accounts are handled with the highest degree of ethics and accuracy. The specialist will also support insurance claims review when necessary, contributing to the overall financial health of the clinic.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring outstanding Self-pay AR, working each bucket within the aging AR
• Understanding of Self-pay packages for appropriate follow-up with patients
• Reporting payer issues to leadership and assisting in the development of strategies to address and resolve them
• Ensuring timely follow-up on all unpaid patient balances, utilizing monthly aging reports
• Effective auditing skills to support payment plan implementation
• Setting up accounts for collection activity, including notification letters to patients
• Processing refund requests
• Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers or patients to resolve issues
• Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments
• Researching and resolving any discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections
• Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtaining any missing information
• Posting online patient payments
• Processing insurance payments when appropriate to balance bill to patient
• Troubleshooting errors and rejection codes, correcting and re-submitting denied claims
• Maintaining clear communication with the clinics about overall clinical operations impacting claims processing
• Updating patient accounts, including verification of insurance coverage and changes in patient information, with appropriate documentation
• Maintaining the highest degree of ethics when handling patient payments and bill processing
• Providing reporting metrics on outstanding Self-pay AR balances
• Meeting positional metrics and benchmarks
• Following all department standard operating procedures carefully and accurately
• Performing other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of AR/RCM experience strongly preferred
• Infertility RCM expertise considered ideal
• Possess a strong working knowledge of insurance benefits and Managed Care policies
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding is a plus
