About the position

The Accounting Assistant position at Valet Park of America involves supporting the accounting team with various tasks such as journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, collections, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, recording, and posting journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Process and review invoices, ensure proper coding, and manage vendor payments in accordance with company policies.
  • Process customer payments, maintain aging reports, and assist in resolving discrepancies or billing issues.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure timely payment, follow up on overdue accounts, and assist in implementing collection strategies.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are addressed promptly.
  • Assist with payroll data entry, timekeeping, and ensuring accurate deductions and benefits processing.
  • Provide support for accounting projects, assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, and maintain organized records.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and assist in preparing financial reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a midsized business or corporate setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll processing and understanding of payroll taxes.
  • Knowledge of general ledger processes, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in using ERP or accounting software.
