About the position

The Accounts Payable Analyst I role is an individual contributor position focused on supporting the Accounts Payable Team through various accounting activities. This includes data mining, journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of internal reports. The analyst will also manage payments related to rents and landing fees, ensuring compliance with company policies and controls while providing payment processing support and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the general ledger accounting functions.
  • Prepare, organize, and enter monthly journal entries for various transactions in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Prepare complete and accurate reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and monthly account balance fluctuation analyses.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors and internal teams on statement audits, researching payment anomalies found and coordinating corrections.
  • Support management team as needed by analyzing problems and recommending solutions using knowledge and experience.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and reporting.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvement projects.
  • Partner closely with other departments to ensure correct billing rates and timely payment (ports/leases).
  • Support accounting specialists with questions and training issues.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • A self-starter with professional curiosity, specifically in understanding general business practices as well as the airline business.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks while seeing work responsibilities through to completion.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and listening).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience with complex accounting and financial systems.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting.
