About the position
The Accounting Supervisor at Miccosukee Casino & Resort is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions, including general ledger management, payables, receivables, payroll, and financial reporting. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies while leading and mentoring the accounting staff to meet service expectations. The position requires a commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Control the accounting functions including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and reporting.
- Supervise and manage the Accounting Staff, ensuring compliance with Miccosukee Service Expectations.
- Train, coach, counsel, evaluate, and administer discipline to Accounting Staff team members.
- Prepare and maintain the daily summary of the Enterprises' cash flow.
- Maintain Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules.
- Generate monthly general journal entries and ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance reports.
- Ensure adherence to accounting controls and corporate policies.
- Assist in developing and reviewing the annual department budget.
- Support internal/external audits and ensure compliance with established policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/business is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting is required.
- Experience with interpreting financial data from system-generated reports.
- Highly skilled in advanced Excel functions and spreadsheets.
- Proficient in MS Word.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work additional hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
