About the position

The Accounting Manager at Verkada will oversee the corporate accounting team, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and global accounting policies. This role involves leading the monthly and quarterly accounting close processes, managing close activities, and serving as a liaison with external auditors. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly and quarterly worldwide accounting close processes in compliance with US GAAP and global accounting policies.
  • Manage close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial close meetings with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare formal accounting position papers and memos for complex, material, and/or unique accounting issues.
  • Support and guide business partners with the accounting and reporting implications of transactions while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Prepare and present consolidated financial results and analytical reviews on significant changes to senior management and key business partners.
  • Serve as the liaison with external auditors for annual audits, ensuring timely audit request completion.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting records and reduce time to close.
  • Lead accounting automation projects, focusing on scalable finance and reporting system design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Provide guidelines and oversight for shared service centers supporting consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Support executives with projects, research, and supplemental reporting needs.

Requirements

  • BA/BBA/BS Degree from a 4-year university
  • CPA Certification
  • 5+ years experience, with financial statement audit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial systems (i.e. Netsuite, Banking, Navan, ZIP, etc.)
  • Ability to focus, complete tasks accurately and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
