About the position

The Accounting Clerk position is responsible for managing various accounting tasks including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing support to clients in a property management context. The role requires attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process bills, ensure financial accuracy, and issue checks for accounts payable.
  • Accept tenant payments, record transactions in Property Management software, and create bank deposits for accounts receivable.
  • Understand and apply fundamental accounting principles as part of basic accounting procedures.
  • Provide assistance to clients, including owners, tenants, and property managers as accounting support.
  • Visit the bank to make deposits and utilize a remote deposit scanner for remote deposits.
  • Assist with online filing of general excise tax.
  • Monitor, track, and receipt incoming rental assistance payments.
  • Assist tenants and owners with their online portals for online portal support.
  • Prepare association maintenance fee payments under strict monthly deadlines.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned under miscellaneous duties.
  • Assist with physical mailouts of financial statements.
  • Maintain organized filing of paperwork.

Requirements

  • Candidates should be 18 years of age or older.
  • Prior clerical experience is beneficial.
  • High School Diploma required, AA preferred.
  • Prior accounts payable and receivable experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail is necessary for accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Self-directed learner with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand the purpose of tasks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge in Property Management is preferred.
  • Prior use of AppFolio software is preferred.
