About the position

The Accounting Associate (Collections) is a part-time role focused on assisting with the collections of accounts receivable. This position involves direct communication with clients regarding payment inquiries, coordinating with internal personnel, and maintaining accurate records of accounts. Responsibilities

  • Assist in all activities related to the collections of accounts receivable.
  • Call clients to inquire about payment of invoices.
  • Send follow-up inquiries to clients regarding overdue payments.
  • Negotiate with past due accounts to secure payment.
  • Refer accounts to collection agencies or attorneys when necessary.
  • Review files and prepare information needed for client contact.
  • Contact clients via email or telephone regarding payment inquiries.
  • Coordinate with DMA personnel on contacting clients about payments.
  • Assist in running A/R reports and updating client notes.
  • Notify clients of turnover to collection agencies or attorneys if no response is received.
  • Organize, maintain, and update all related files.
  • Apply cash receipts in A/R on a daily basis and maintain daily reports.
  • Update A/R reconciliation spreadsheet daily and balance weekly/monthly.
  • Communicate unapplied cash receipts to appropriate DMA personnel.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.
  • 3+ years of prior office-related work experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search tools is required.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks is necessary.
  • Accuracy and ability to meet deadlines is essential.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.
