About The Position

This is a key position within the Magenta Service Center (MSC) in the Project to Retire (PTR) Accounting Team, specifically focusing on Fixed Assets Accounting. The MSC – PTR Team is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of accounting records, monthly accounting close activities, and accounting variance analysis. The team ensures timely and accurate closing of books in compliance with accounting policies, appropriate accounting estimates considering risks and uncertainties, and that accounting records contain necessary information for internal management, tax compliance, and T-Mobile/Deutsche Telekom reporting requirements. This team also oversees the development, modification, and maintenance of internal controls within these accounting processes to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of financial records, including SOX requirements. The Accountant I is responsible for managing multiple tasks that account for the financial results for Fixed Asset Accounting within the Project to Retire Accounting Team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ year of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Experience with ERP systems and related reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Blackline).
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, sum if, x-lookup, etc.).
  • Understanding of large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, SQL, Alteryx).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and performing variance analysis for Fixed Asset Accounting.
  • Understand the transactional flow through the various systems to monitor and ensure financial results are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
  • Identify and communicate issues or areas for process improvements, drive towards resolution, and help implement best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements to ensure proper application in T-Mobile’s close and financial reporting process.
  • Support the SOX control program.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial audits performed by internal and external auditors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Responsible for other projects, as assigned.
