About the position

Daikin Applied is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team. As part of the world's largest HVAC company, you'll play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of over 31+ Field Service offices across the U.S. and Canada, representing more than $400 million in revenue. In this role, you will serve as a financial business partner to local office leadership, applying accounting principles to analyze financial data, manage general ledger activities, and prepare accurate financial reports. You'll also support internal audits and ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and revenue recognition standards.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual and long-range financial plan, and monthly financial forecasts.
  • Assists in the training of the Field Coordination team on compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures and internal control environment.
  • Interfaces with internal and external auditors in compliance with J-SOX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related
  • 2+ years of accounting experience OR a total of 6 years of accounting experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Direct experience using ERP systems including SAP or Oracle (or similar)
  • Work sponsorship is not available for this position

  • 4+ years of related accounting experience
  • Experience acting as an accounting business partner in a service (or similar) industry
  • CPA
