About the position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced accountant to join our team at Breakaway Financial Group. As an accountant, you will be responsible for providing bookkeeping services to our current and future clients, as well as assisting with tax preparation work. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has a strong bookkeeping and tax services background. This position is designed for someone who can manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. In this role, you will perform day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all financial records. You will manage accounts payable and receivable, conduct bank reconciliations, and make general ledger entries. Additionally, you will prepare financial statements and reports regularly, handle tax preparation and filing for individual and business clients, and assist with tax planning by providing advice on tax-efficient strategies. It is crucial to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations while collaborating with our team to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures. Effective communication with clients is essential, as you will need to gather necessary information and answer any questions they may have about their accounts or tax matters. The current position would require approximately 10 hours per week, with the potential to increase over time as the business grows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports regularly.
  • Handle tax preparation and filing for individual and business clients.
  • Assist with tax planning and provide advice on tax-efficient strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and answer any questions about their accounts or tax matters.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an accountant, focusing on bookkeeping and tax preparation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPA certification is a plus but not required.
