About The Position

This position is in the Financial Management Bureau, reporting to the Grants section. This is a full-time position that works closely with FDLE’s financial information and is responsible for ensuring that grant financial data is accurately transacted and reported. This position requires a strong ability to analyze data and conduct independent research to ensure grant funds are used appropriately.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to use computer software skills, including BEGINNER skills in database/spreadsheet software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to research and find errors in reconciliation of expenditures and cash reports
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing expenditures on assigned grants against the grant’s budget to determine eligibility
  • Preparing monthly grant claims
  • Preparing all necessary reports relating to the grants
  • Researching, calculating, and recording all necessary Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) entries
  • Reconciling claims filed to the FLAIR expenditures and revenue
  • Reconciling FLAIR cash
  • Developing working relationships with program members and resolve issues independently
  • Coordinating a monthly review of expenditure claims with the grant managers
  • Ensuring compliance with special conditions and limitations of the grant
  • Ensuring proper assignment of grant positions in People First
