About the position

The Accountant I position at Insight Credit Union is designed for individuals with experience in accounts payable and general accounting functions. This role involves providing accounting support to managers and other departments within the Credit Union, requiring a high level of integrity and organization while working in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting support to managers in the accounting department and other departments.
• Perform general accounting functions to support supervisors and provide accurate financial information.
• Assist with the month-end closing process, including posting and preparing journal entries and completing month-end financial reporting.
• Prepare and maintain daily general ledger reconciliation, researching and resolving variances between reports and general ledger activity.
• Analyze current accounting procedures to recommend, develop, and implement improvements.
• Perform job-related administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within a financial institution.
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Fundamental understanding of income statements and balance sheets.
• Knowledge of credit union finance and back office operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Fiserv DNA, Wisdom, and Nautilus and A/P preferred but not required.
