About the position
The Senior Accountant position at the National Coast Guard Museum involves providing comprehensive accounting services to the Deputy Director and Coast Guard Headquarters. The role focuses on interpreting financial management policies, developing accounting procedures, and ensuring effective application of financial management practices. The accountant will also conduct reviews of financial obligations and maintain internal management controls for financial functions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in interpreting financial management policy and provide guidance to staff elements.
- Develop and recommend routine accounting policies and coordinate the formulation of accounting procedures.
- Work closely with tenant activities and directors to promote understanding of financial management policies.
- Provide accounting advice and management information to financial managers.
- Conduct reviews of un-liquidated obligations and unmatched disbursements.
- Assist in maintaining internal management controls for financial management functions.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting.
- At least 4 years of experience in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
