The Account Manager for the Industrial Market supports the functions of the Sales & Marketing Departments within Border States Electric (BSE) by managing assigned customer account relationships and focusing on opportunity prospects and accounts. The role involves promoting Border States Electric's products, services, and capabilities to maximize customer sales potential. Regular responsibilities include calling on assigned accounts, developing new accounts, inputting cost savings documentation, coordinating sales strategies with preferred vendors, and actively managing company sales and support resources. Additionally, the Account Manager provides input to the pricing and purchasing departments on competitive issues related to price, margin strategy, product evaluations, electrical code requirements, inventory requirements, and other related sales, marketing, and service functions. The essential functions of the role include meeting or exceeding established sales goals, penetrating and growing current and prospect medium opportunity accounts, and identifying targeted opportunities that align with active promotions and new capabilities. The Account Manager is expected to prospect, validate, and convert new opportunity prospects by identifying and targeting appropriate influencers and positioning the company effectively against competition. Understanding customer business objectives and translating them into a differentiated advantage for the company is crucial. The role also requires keeping current with company offerings, guiding high opportunity accounts to Senior Account Managers when appropriate, and ensuring quality customer support through various services such as expediting, pricing, follow-up, and returns. The Account Manager will also provide timely follow-up on technical inquiries and requests, which may be needed after business hours. In addition to these responsibilities, the Account Manager will direct the use of marketing tools, technical specialists, and company capabilities/services to facilitate a coordinated sales strategy for each assigned customer. They will also coordinate sales strategies with preferred vendors to maximize customer sales potential and actively manage and direct company sales and support resources to maximize sales and profit potential across all products, markets, and specialist team opportunities for BSE. Participation in and advising sales management on the implementation and success of marketing plans and strategies is also part of the role, along with providing strategic input to the pricing and purchasing departments on competitive issues related to pricing, product evaluations, and inventory requirements.
