About the position

The Account Manager for Employee Benefits at The Standard is responsible for supporting business growth, profitability, and client retention within the Employee Benefits Sales and Service office. This role involves managing accounts with 500-4999 lives, developing effective relationships with key policyholders, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. The position requires problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to navigate complex administrative issues while advocating for clients' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage effective primary relationships with key policyholders and producers through frequent on-site visits and responsive communication.
  • Act as a liaison between home office departments and customers to initiate plan improvements and resolve administrative inconsistencies.
  • Organize face-to-face visits with key clients prior to renewals to present claims experience analysis and recommend coverage changes.
  • Monitor renewal activity in partnership with sales reps and underwriters, preparing customized strategies to retain accounts.
  • Negotiate rates, contract provisions, and administrative issues with Regional or National Accounts.
  • Promote the sale of additional lines of coverage or plan improvements on assigned accounts.
  • Facilitate the enrollment process, including preparation of materials and conducting meetings.
  • Mentor service and sales employees on service issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in group insurance account management in the 500+ lives space.
  • Life and Disability insurance license for all states within the office's assigned territory.
  • Experience working through mergers and acquisitions, managing the unknown with grace and professionalism.
  • Personal automobile available for business use with adequate insurance and a safe driving record.
