About The Position

The Academic Program Specialist is most students' and visitors' first point of contact to the Department. The Academic Program Specialist provides critical information and support to help promote the Department and ensure smooth operation of its core functions. They independently coordinate a variety of operational tasks involved in the day-to-day administration of the Department of History. Key responsibilities include tasks supporting faculty promotion and tenure, student admissions and registration, and program marketing and publicity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year experience in administrative staff work.
  • Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to program inquiries over the phone and by email, providing information regarding admission requirements and program specialties;
  • Provides support for recruitment, admissions, registration, orientation, and progress of students through both the undergraduate and graduate programs;
  • Oversees the completion and submission of critical forms and documentation and maintains records of this work;
  • Assists in design, editing, and preparation of marketing materials and the Department's social media presence.
