About The Position

The 8th Grade Science Teacher will guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. This role involves instructing assigned classes, preparing lessons, creating an effective classroom environment, and guiding the learning process to achieve curriculum goals. The teacher will also discern students' needs, communicate with parents, plan curriculum, ensure student safety, assist administration, and engage in professional development.

Requirements

As set by state certification authorities
Elementary Education or Mid-Level Science certification preferred

Responsibilities

Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times.
Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation.
Creates an effective classroom environment conducive to learning.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Establishes clear objectives and communicates them to students.
Discerns students' needs and refers them to appropriate school personnel.
Works to establish and maintain open communication with students and parents.
Plans curriculum in cooperation with administration.
Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
Assists administration in developing and implementing policies.
Attends and participates in faculty and professional activities.
Completes reports and other school-related paperwork.
Accepts responsibility and arrives punctually for assigned activities and duties.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
Upgrades professional growth through professional training, workshops, seminars, conferences, college classes, or other professional activities.
Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health, and personal appearance.
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.
