About the position
The Civil General Foreman is responsible for managing and supervising the planning, layout, material storage, maintenance, and inspections of concrete finishing. This role involves coordinating the efforts of foremen and crewmen, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in all operations. The foreman will lead safety processes, create schedules, and provide on-the-job training while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the planning, layout, material storage, maintenance, and inspections of concrete finishing.
- Lead and support all safety-related processes and programs, ensuring zero injuries.
- Create and execute a one-week schedule for the crew.
- Review crew's timecards for accuracy and report all accidents and near misses to the supervisor.
- Conduct daily pre-job safety planning and ensure all crew members understand safety procedures.
- Provide on-the-job training and teach safety practices related to assigned tasks.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Conduct toolbox meetings to communicate safety concerns and work scope to crews.
Requirements
- Experience working as a journeyman and supervisor in Carpenter, Cement Finisher, Reinforced Ironworker, or similar craft.
- Strong working knowledge of civil/concrete crafts and experience in erecting concrete structures.
- Ability to use auto-level and transit for accurate layout and verification of finished grades.
- Leadership abilities and organizational skills.
