About the position

The 2nd Shift Stuffing Machine Operator at Smithfield Foods is responsible for operating machinery to stuff sausage into casings, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role requires physical strength and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the production of high-quality meat products.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand, leg or foot activated valve to stuff sausage into casings or molds.
• Position on sticks and hang product to trees or trucks.
• Check and set proper stuffer controls. Select and position proper stuffing horn.
• Soak and untie bundles of casings when necessary.
• Service stuffers by bringing vats of meat to stuffer to dumpers and unloading meat into stuffer.
• Place casings on horns of stuffers.
• Operate stuffing machine, hang product, service stuffers, clean buckets, all part of rotation of jobs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
