Position Summary: The Lead Packaging Operator leads the packaging employees and all packaging functions while performing the duties of a Packaging Operator. Assists in other areas of the plant as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate daily tasks to Operators. Ensure these tasks are completed within required timeframes.
  • Ensures Vorne, Production Schedule, and Production reporting is accurately updated as directed.
  • Ensures that each QA checklist is being performed on each production line during their shift.
  • Ensures that each line is accurately recording finished goods production and material usage.
  • Leads and directs all packaging functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the bottling line, the label and cap racks, the packaging of totes, drums, pails, and pouches.
  • Able to ensure product changeovers are done safely and correctly for each line.
  • Ensures that all operating procedures, safety rules, and company policies are followed by all Packaging and Bottling Line Operators on shift. Addresses all violations directly with Operators. If violations persist, work with the Operations Supervisor to issue appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the packaging area, this includes the bottling lines, the drum line, the stretch wrap machine, pail and pouch lines, along with their associated hoses, fittings, floors, racks, and filling stations. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the E Room.
  • Responsible for following the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan.
  • Ensure the completion of all paperwork in the packaging area.
  • Train all new Operators regarding their job duties and operational and safety procedures. Ensure that all Packaging and Bottling Line Operators understand their job duties and how to complete them.
  • This position also performs all Packaging Operator and Dock Operator duties. This includes but is not limited to loading drums onto skids, labeling and filling totes, drums and pails, pouches, and shrink wrap and store containers in the appropriate location within the plant. Ensure that the bottling line is running and functioning. Loading and unloading finished goods and materials on and off trailers.
