About the position

The position is focused on identifying, maturing, and drilling significant exploration opportunities in the geological oil and gas sector. The role requires a highly motivated individual who can perform geologic play descriptions, correlate well logs, and create subsurface maps to illustrate trap formation and timing. The candidate will also be responsible for volumetric calculations of hydrocarbons in place, creating geo-prognosis for proposed wells, and presenting prospects internally and to potential partners. Responsibilities

  • Geologic play description and characterization (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Correlation of well logs
  • Subsurface mapping, structural and stratigraphic to illustrate trap formation and timing
  • Volumetric calculation of hydrocarbons in place
  • Creation of geo-prognosis for proposed wells
  • Prospect presentation and review (internally) and marketing to potential partners
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation
  • Supports company vision and mission
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years minimum experience in geological oil and gas exploration
  • Proven ability to identify prospective areas with fully integrated set of information to present to peers and management for approval to drill
  • High-level proficiency with onsite open hole evaluation and problem solving
  • Working knowledge and some practical experience of the role and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operations Engineers, Landmen, and other company professionals
  • Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment exploration opportunities
  • Ability to accurately solve problems
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner
  • Project management, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in the use and application of PETRA or other Geologic database and mapping software

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
