About the position
The Full-Time Front End Associate at Spec's is responsible for providing exceptional customer service during the checkout process, ensuring a positive shopping experience for guests. This role involves operating cash registers, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to company policies and procedures while engaging with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor.
- Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed.
- Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
- Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items.
- Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers to ensure accurate charges.
- Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
- Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
- Bag or box merchandise and assist with carry-outs when needed.
- Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
- Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached.
- Keep work area clean and neat and do not overstock counter with merchandise.
- Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
- Answer questions and provide information to guests.
- Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
- Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
- Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but experience is also considered.
- Cashiering experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.
- Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and possibly a Food Handlers Permit.

- Bilingual skills are a plus.
