About the position
The Future Talent Program offers internships lasting up to 12 weeks in the Research & Development Division, providing students with hands-on experience in scientific research and the opportunity to contribute to drug discovery and development projects. Interns will work in state-of-the-art laboratories, collaborating with scientists to tackle challenges in biocatalysis, protein engineering, and microfluidics, while gaining insights into the pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the invention, development, and implementation of biomolecules in drug discovery.
- Work alongside scientists in a laboratory environment to solve complex technical problems.
- Participate in departmental and project team meetings to understand the drug discovery process.
- Record research findings accurately in electronic notebooks and adhere to safe laboratory practices.
- Present research results in both oral and written formats.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled sophomore, junior, or senior students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Material Science; OR a currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in the same fields.
- Completion of at least two years of studies toward a bachelor's degree by May 2025.
- Availability to work full-time for approximately 11-12 weeks from May - August 2025.
Nice-to-haves
- Significant interest in organic chemistry, enzymology, protein design, directed evolution, chemical engineering, or bioengineering.
- Basic laboratory skills and research experience, including lab notebook recording and safe lab practices.
- Experience with chemistry laboratory set-up techniques and purification methods.
- Exposure to analytical techniques such as HPLC, NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with PCR techniques and biochemical assays.
