About the position

This internship opportunity is designed for undergraduate Civil Engineering students interested in site design and land development. Interns will work closely with Professional Engineers and Technicians to apply their academic knowledge in real-world projects, focusing on site planning, utilities, grading, drainage, and stormwater management. The role includes assisting with calculations, preparing detailed drawings, and occasionally supporting construction administration tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed drawings for site planning, roads, utilities, parking lots, grading and drainage, stormwater management, and erosion and flood control projects.
  • Assist with calculations for project dimensions and elevations and compute/tabulate quantities.
  • Occasionally assist with construction administration responsibilities by interpreting plans, observing construction operations, and maintaining reports to ensure construction conforms to plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors, walk and climb over rough terrain while carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age by May 30, 2025, and possess a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous coursework or project assignments related to site design and land development.
  • Thorough understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, and related engineering practices.
  • Previous experience developing construction plans and specifications.
  • Previous experience with construction administration or surveying responsibilities, including operation of instruments, recording and interpreting data, and staking.
