About the position
The 2025 College Intern Technical Writing/Facilities position at Health Alliance Plan (HAP) offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in the healthcare and insurance sector. This paid internship, running from May 12 to August 8, 2025, will involve a hybrid work format, combining remote and onsite work in Troy, MI. Interns will collaborate with industry professionals, contribute to departmental goals, and work on a Capstone Project to present to HAP leadership at the end of the summer.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, healthcare policies, and emerging technologies.
- Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of projects.
- Contribute innovative ideas and support the execution of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of healthcare-related data.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity, utilizing appropriate software tools and methodologies.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with customer support activities.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and project-related materials.
- Generate regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field.
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus.
- Best suited for candidates pursuing a degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing, documentation, and basic web design skills.
- Familiarity with Audio Visual (AV) equipment.
