About the position

The Principal at Meadowbrook Elementary is responsible for using leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. This role involves establishing an effective learning climate, implementing programs tailored to the school's needs, managing the school budget, and ensuring compliance with Board policies. The Principal will maintain active relationships with students and parents, lead the instructional program, and oversee the professional development of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
  • Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet the school's specific needs.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed of the school's activities.
  • Responsible for the management and preparation of the school budget.
  • Informs the supervisor of unusual events and routine matters.
  • Implements and observes all Board policies and regulations.
  • Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
  • Leads in the development and monitoring of the instructional program.
  • Assists in developing, revising, and evaluating the district curriculum.
  • Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline.
  • Controls local funds generated by student activities.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
  • Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and support personnel.
  • Assists in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Plans for and assists in the evaluation of staff performance.
  • Conducts necessary staff meetings.
  • Responsible for the safety and administration of the school plant.
  • Supervises daily use of school facilities.
  • Plans and supervises the school's extracurricular program.
  • Participates in principals' and negotiations meetings.
  • Establishes relationships with community groups to foster support.
  • Delegates authority to responsible personnel in the principal's absence.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Leads in the development of the school's mission and goals.
  • Works with a site-based shared decision team to accomplish building goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Missouri Administrative certification appropriate for the specific level.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification in Special Education, preferred.
  • Degree(s) required and area of major study.
  • Experience needed for the specific assignment.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
