About the position

KIPP NYC is seeking dedicated teachers who are passionate about motivating and educating students while developing both academic and character skills. The role focuses on delivering a college preparatory education that is relevant and engaging, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future educational and career paths.

Responsibilities

• Planning a college preparatory curriculum that aligns with school and New York State standards, fostering critical thinking.
• Executing thoughtful and rigorous daily college preparatory lessons.
• Assessing student progress and communicating results to students, families, and colleagues.
• Providing individual and small group instruction until all students achieve mastery.
• Modeling the school's values in all communications with students, families, and staff.
• Demonstrating a 'whatever it takes' spirit to ensure each student is successful.
• Advising a small group of students throughout their four years of high school.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment.
• At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
• Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within KIPP NYC communities.
