About the position

The position is for an Elementary School Teacher for grades 3-5 at the Mission Consolidated Independent School District. The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. The position reports to the Campus Principal and is exempt with a salary range of $58,250 - $71,220.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to plan instructional activities.
  • Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Plans and supervises assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom and administers discipline according to board policies.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keeps informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subject(s) assigned.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
