About the position
The position involves supporting teachers and school staff by taking on various non-teaching responsibilities. Under the supervision of a principal or teacher, the individual will relieve teachers of school activities that do not require professional teaching skills. This includes monitoring duties in areas such as the yard, hall, lavatory, and study hall, as well as handling, storing, and distributing textbooks and instructional supplies. The role also includes assisting with clerical work and maintaining order in the lunchroom, facilitating lunch service, and managing school inventories. Additional duties may be assigned by teachers or principals as needed.
Responsibilities
- Relieve teachers of non-teaching activities such as monitoring duties in the yard, hall, lavatory, and study hall.
- Handle, store, and distribute textbooks and instructional supplies.
- Assist with routine clerical work.
- Maintain order in the lunchroom and facilitate lunch service.
- Manage school inventories and check reports, notes, and library lists.
- Handle the arrival and departure of children transported to school by bus.
- Direct children in washing hands, disposing of wraps, and lining up for lunch service.
- Oversee the return of dishes and utensils and the disposal of refuse.
Requirements
- Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors and other school-based staff.
- Demonstrated history of good human relations.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently carry out assignments.
- Bilingual candidates may be considered for schools with student or familial language needs.
