About the position

The Educational Diagnostician will assist Alief ISD schools in the referral, coordination, and monitoring process for students referred to special education. The role also involves helping schools develop appropriate educational programs for students. The position requires a certified Educational Diagnostician by the Texas Education Agency and entails managing special education caseloads, conducting evaluations, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage campus special education caseloads and coordinate meetings for students referred to special education.
  • Conduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education.
  • Review all Existing Evaluation Data to determine the need for additional assessment.
  • Review assessment results from other districts to ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency criteria.
  • Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management.
  • Assist with and conduct parent conferences to review and interpret assessment results.
  • Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning.
  • Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed.
  • Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures.
  • Assist in the preparation of individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education.
  • Attend and participate in professional development meetings.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and lead ARD Committee meetings and other related meetings.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain technology competence to meet current and future needs.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified by the Texas Education Agency as an Educational Diagnostician.
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience, preferably in special education.
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of specially designed instruction and cross-battery evaluation practices.
  • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learning.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, and collaborate with staff.
  • Effective communication, human relations, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in digital tools including Google Suite, Microsoft 365, ARD/IEP Software, and Learning Platform Management Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: Min-$63,536 Mid-$75,878 Max-$88,218 based on previous experience.
  • $500 Masters Stipend.
  • $4500 for Bilingual Stipend if applicable to assignment.
