About the position
The Quality Inspector 2 position is responsible for overseeing the inspection processes in metal forming production, fabrication, and assembly. This role requires the inspector to ensure that all products meet quality standards and specifications while promoting adherence to company regulations and procedures. The inspector will document findings, perform various inspections, and collaborate with teams to address any defects or issues identified during the inspection process.
Responsibilities
- Inspect in-process production metal stampings, fabrication, and assembly per assigned tasks.
- Document actual findings utilizing the computer system.
- Perform visual inspections of welded, sanded, notched, and tumbled components per customer specifications.
- Inspect for defects and cosmetic issues in products.
- Report defects and collaborate with teams to correct issues.
- Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
- Maintain workflow with minimal interruptions.
- Perform set-up inspections and approvals for Generic Production Items.
- Perform set-up inspections and approvals for medical and other complex products.
- Assist in performing receiving inspections, including verification of Certificates of Conformance and Certificates of Analysis.
- Perform inspections based on provided check sheets and technical drawings.
- Assist Engineering and Tool Shop with problem-solving functions by performing inspections of significant size and reporting findings accurately.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Ability to utilize micrometers, calipers, drop gauges, and dial indicators.
- Experience with Rockwell Test Equipment and Optical Comparators.
- Ability to operate Video Inspection Equipment.
- Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings (blueprints) for indicated dimensions.
- Experience with GMT preferred.
- Proficient in mathematics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
