About The Position

This position announcement is for a 1st Shift Boning Supervisor in the Ham Boning department at JBS USA in Ottumwa. The role is exempt and requires knowledge of all production areas, including product flow, specifications, equipment, and payroll. The supervisor will be responsible for meeting and exceeding production goals, supervising production employees, and ensuring compliance with procedures, safety, cleanliness, and company policies. Key responsibilities include meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, controlling costs, employee retention, and maintaining good working relationships with the Union, USDA, and maintenance employees. Compliance with food safety, human resources, and safety policies is essential.

Requirements

High School degree or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
1-2 years proven supervisory experience in the Beef or Pork industry
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally in English
Computer knowledge required
Good organizational skills
Ability to work 50+ hours
Good attendance record (Less than 3 points, for internal candidates)

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred
Bilingual skills helpful

Responsibilities

Knowledgeable in all production areas of the department, including product flow, Specs, Equipment/Machines, and Payroll.
Meet and exceed production goals set forth by plant management
Supervise production employees
Monitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, and cleanliness of production employees
Ensure policy compliance with all production employees
Perform various duties as assigned
Responsible for meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, employee retention and maintain good working relationships with the Union, USDA (meat), and maintenance employees
Ensure compliance with food safety, and all human resources and safety policies
